There is a school in Jambrung Village in Karjat district, Maharasthtra. Previously this school was conducted under a tree or in temple premises. Government is giving facility for education upto 7th std. , to study further the children had to travel around 12 to 15 km everyday to attend the school /junior college in another village. Also there was no Toilet facility , hence Female students usually quit attending.
Hence the locals decided to build a school in the village , for which they formed a trust , they donated land and some cash from their pocket , and also collected some funds from near by farmhouse owners and started the construction. But the funds were not sufficient to complete the school, there were no windows , no tap / water supply in the toilet, no blackboards, no doors to the toilet, no electric connection, no wiring, no tubes no fans, and the community hall was built till plinth level, no staff room.
So they approached our club’s member and past president Ln. Ravi Hule to request for aid as they know I am a Lion member. He put forwarded their request in front of my Club to take up as a Charity Project. The project was not only approved but got great support from our enthusiastic members. We collected donations in cash and kind , like Tubelights were donated by Lion Harshad Rane , Benches and Blackboards by Lion Ashish Joshi, Sliding Windows for classrooms and Staff room bought from our Chartity trust fund. The entire project cost was around 7 Lakhs. Later on with the support of our Lion Ajay Bali and our CSR partner , BCD travels ,we completed the community centre and Computer lab worth 8 lakhs INR. It was inaugurated by our then DG Lion DR. Ajeet Jain, 1st VDG Lion Shashikant Modh , 2nd VDG Lion Dr. K. Muddasir and GST Lion Saraswati Shankar.
Next step in this schools development is to avoid Leakage from the slab and to build the first floor to accommodate Chemistry Lab and Library and handicraft facility to create a source of income for Local Adivasi Students, a project worth 12 lakhs. Till date we have collected around 3 lakhs.
